Muslims have always been part of the fabric of America but absent from centers of influence. To increase our impact, we develop and empower talented individuals to become leaders in government, Hollywood, and news media. Our alumni represent us on Capitol Hill, major Hollywood studios, and national media networks.

CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (CLDP)

We provide the right leadership tools

Fellows learn essential leadership tools in a classroom setting, then are placed in real-world situations to put what you learned into practice. Meant to take fellows out of their comfort zones, these exercises are a source of personal and professional growth. With these tools and practice, they will return to their communities equipped to step into leadership positions in university organizations, civic clubs and non-profits.

We place fellows into Capitol Hill internship positions

Through our networks, we place CLDP fellows into an internship position with a member of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Fellows walk the halls of Congress with Senators, Congressman and policy makers. This experience allows our fellows to understand the legislative process from the inside and learn how they can shape policy through their respective professions.

We provide networking and mentorship opportunities

Fellows attend panels with some of the most influential individuals in Washington, D.C. and the country. They also meet and spend time with distinguished leaders from various professions. They learn from the life experiences of leaders who were once in the same shoes as them.

SCREENWRITNG LABS

In an effort to discover and nurture talented writers with unique voices and diverse backgrounds, we partnered with major entertainment studios/production companies to develop a series of day-long labs in Los Angeles designed to advance Muslim screenwriters in their careers. Each lab will focus on a specific genre and will be lead by top writers in that genre. Our labs are designed to be small and intimate to allow instructors to give you the most one-on-one attention. Participants will speak with Hollywood executives, have their script evaluated, learn how to pitch their project, and network with fellow participants.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

Our internships are located in our Washington, DC and Los Angeles offices. The internship program allows students to work on issues on a national scale. Such as immigration, national security, human security, and religious freedom. Every internship focuses on supporting our mission to improve public understanding and policies that impact American Muslims by engaging our government, media, and communities.
